Rajkummar Rao, now a celebrated actor in Bollywood, recently opened up about his humble beginnings and the significance of his first salary. During his appearance on the latest episode of Aapka Apna Zakir alongside Shraddha Kapoor, he reminisced about earning Rs 300 by teaching dance to a seven-year-old girl while he was still in high school.
Reflecting on that time, Rajkummar shared that earning Rs 300 felt like a huge achievement, especially given the financial struggles his family faced. "I was so happy when I received my first salary," he recalled, adding that the money came in the form of six Rs 50 notes. Despite the limited amount, Rajkummar decided to spend it on groceries for his family. He even splurged on desi ghee, which he described as a luxury they couldn't often afford. "It was a big deal for us to have ghee on our rotis," the actor said, highlighting the simple joys that money brought to his household.
Shraddha Kapoor, who was also present during the show, shared her own experience with her first salary. She revealed that while studying in the US, her parents kept her on a strict budget. To earn some extra money, she worked at a coffee shop, where she received a paycheck of $40, which she spent on food.
Rajkummar Rao's journey from those modest beginnings to becoming one of Bollywood's most versatile actors is nothing short of inspiring. Born in 1984 to Satya Prakash Yadav, a government employee, and Kamlesh Yadav, Rajkummar grew up in a family that knew the value of hard work. After completing his education at the University of Delhi, he pursued his passion for acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Rajkummar made his Bollywood debut in 2010 with Love Sex Aur Dhokha and quickly gained recognition for his ability to portray diverse characters. Over the years, he has delivered standout performances in films like Queen, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Stree and Ludo. Most recently, Rajkummar is seen in Stree 2, the much-anticipated sequel to his hit horror-comedy Stree. The film was released on August 15, marking another milestone in his impressive career.
