The highly anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule has found itself at the center of controversy, with Rajput leader Raj Shekhawat leveling serious allegations against the movie's makers. In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Shekhawat expressed his outrage and deep offense at the portrayal of the Kshatriya community in the film. Specifically, he took umbrage with the character Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, played by Fahadh Faasil, which he claimed presented the 'Shekhawat' community in a negative and derogatory light.

According to a report in News 18, the leader wrote on X, “Pushpa 2 movie has a negative role of ‘Shekhawat,’ again an insult to Kshatriyas. Karni Sainiks, be ready—the producer of the movie will be thrashed soon." In a video statement, he further alleged that the film industry has repeatedly misrepresented the Shekhawat community, calling it a “grave insult to Kshatriyas in the name of freedom of speech.”

The film features music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Mirosław Kuba Brożek, and editing by Naveen Nooli. Made on a massive budget of ₹400-500 crore, it's one of India's most expensive films, with a runtime of 200 minutes.

Pushpa 2: The Rule hit theaters worldwide on December 5, 2024, in multiple formats, including standard, IMAX, 4DX, D-Box and PVR ICE. The film has shattered numerous box-office records, amassing an impressive ₹829 crore (US$99 million) globally in its first four-day extended weekend.
