Telugu superstar Gopichand’s 2023 venture ‘Ramabanam’ hit theatres on May 5 this year. The film also featured Jagapathi Babu and Vennela Kishore in lead roles. This family entertainer is helmed by Sriwass and amid high buzz, the film was released on 840 screens worldwide. However, the film was a box office failure. Made on a budget of Rs 20 Crore, 'Ramabanam' was able to earn Rs 14.50 Crore at the box office. It entered the theatres with a break-even target of Rs 15 Crore, and raked only Rs 7.1 Crore at the international theatres.

After watching the film’s horrible performance, none of the OTT platforms pitched in to purchase the digital rights of the film. Now, the makers of the film ‘BRO’ starring Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej signed an agreement to release their films under the banner of Netflix. Now, ‘Ramabanam’ was also produced under the banner of People Media Factory. Thus, Netflix agreed to take the film into consideration, and will release it on September 14.
