'Rana Naidu' Review: Netflix is back with another action crime drama starring Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati in lead. The web series is the Indian adaptation of 'Ray Donovan' and has been able to give equal justice to the characters and plot of the series involved with crime, celebrity scandals, and politics. The series is not a subtle family drama but is involved with heavy crime which is not easy to the eyes.

Plot

'Rana Naidu' tells the tale of the titular character played by Rana Daggubati, who acts like a 'problem solver' in the lives of Bollywood personalities. A devoted father to his children and a caring husband to his wife Naina, essayed by Surveen Chawla, Rana has more intriguing secrets in his job which often causes a rift in the husband-wife relationship.

Soon comes the smashing entry of Rana's father Naga Naidu played by Venkatesh Daggubati, as the latter suddenly is released from the Hyderabad prison and meets his son in Mumbai, unwinding a series of complicated past with chilling twists and chapters being unfolded filled with intriguing secrets.

Rana Naidu Review

The dramatic action family series is not easy to watch as the jam-packed action scenes and upfront crime sequences can be highly disturbing to witness. However, the redeeming quality of the series is its characters who have dutifully played justice to their roles.

As the series revolves around the titular character, one can be confused to support him or go against him, till the very end, as the concept and wickedness of Rana Daggubati's character are intriguing and fits the actor's personality which can make you feel his anger and heartbreak at the same time.

However, his character slips into a darker version with the entry of his estranged dad, who is the real bad guy serving his prison sentence of 15 years. The show then takes a shift focusing on the family issues of Rana Naidu which is filled with conspiracies, where the father-son duo tries to take the highlight from each other, but Venkatesh Daggubati's performance brings the real humor in the series as he tries to tighten up the strings and brings the storyline again into motion.

The electrifying performance of both individuals is an eye candy to watch, where one is struggling to keep up his crumbling family and job, and the other is an old chilled-out man seeking vengeance.

However, there are many points in the plots which are left unanswered and were accounted for quite in a rush, the middle episodes were extremely lengthy and unnecessary at a point and could have been chopped off the script, where the overall script lacked in keeping its pith.

Cast Review

The leading cast of the series Rana Daggubati and his chemistry with his uncle and superstar Venkatesh Daggubati create the charm in the web series and is the savior of the show. Where Rana's character brings the required amount of attitude with softness modeled with a hint of menace, Venkatesh Daggubati's character and his performance provided justice to the show, where a wrong father whose aim is to ruin his son's life is well showcased by the superstar where the required amount of roguishness with a certain amount of humanity is perfectly served.

On the other hand, the leading women Surveen Chawla and Priya Banerjee hold the chains equally strong, holding their scenes most powerfully will give you chills where the two are fighting with their demons and have hidden secrets lying under their skin.

Concluding Review

A lengthy tale of 10 chapters could have been taken a sober end with fewer complications bonded with mere unsatisfaction where the loose ends will make you crave for more. With unnecessary lagging of scenes and dialogues, the show makers and the saviors of the series are truly the leads Rana and Venkatesh Daggubati.

Hailing from the Southern grounds, Rana Daggubati perfectly blended with the air of Mumbai and acted like a true North Indian, he is not only the fixer of his high clients but indeed the 'fixer' of this show.
