Ranbir Kapoor is all set to become a lover onscreen all over again in his upcoming movie Love & War. The film has been helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stars superstars like Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Kapoor opened up about his collaboration with Bhansali after his debut movie Saawariya. The actor called the filmmaker his ‘godfather’. He also credited him for his knowledge of films. Ranbir further talked about his personality and stated that he has not changed at all. 

Ranbir said, “I am extremely excited. He is my godfather. Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him.” For the unversed, the actor worked as an assistant director on the 2007 film Black which was helmed by Bhansali. Then he  debuted with 2007 movie Saawariya. 

“He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different,” he added. 

The movie was earlier announced in January this year. The Bhansali productions wrote on Instagram “We Bring You Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Epic Saga Love & War. See You At The Movies Christmas 2025.” The captioned the image and wrote “#SanjayLeelaBhansali’s next EPIC saga ‘LOVE & WAR’ starring #RanbirKapoor @aliaabhatt & @vickykaushal09 See you in Cinemas on CHRISTMAS 2025! 🎬❤️ @prerna_singh6 #LOVEandWAR.” 

The multistarrer film will be released on March 20, 2026.

Love & War marks the second collaboration of Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali after the 2022 Gangubai Kathiawadi. Notably, Bhatt won the National Award for Best Actress for the film. 

On the other hand, Ranbir is also working on other projects like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Both movies are under production and will be released in 2027 and 2026.
