Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni recently shared her reasons for wanting her daughter Samara off Instagram. In a now-viral interview clip, her comment about trolls, suggesting they might be 'house help,' drew significant backlash on Reddit, igniting heated discussions among users.

Previously, in April, Riddhima expressed her desire to keep Samara away from social media. She explained that while her daughter is interested in having an account, Riddhima believes it’s best for her to avoid it altogether. She advised Samara to ignore the negative comments, pointing out that anyone could be behind those remarks, including household staff. In an interview to Galatta India, She had said, "She (Samara) wants to be on social media, I don’t want her to be on social media to be very honest. I want her off social media."

She added, "But I told her that if you still want to continue with your account (seemingly Instagram account), don’t be affected and you can’t keep reading all your comments. People will write all sorts of things. Anyone is sitting anywhere and writing these comments. May be it is the house help commenting, who knows?"

One Reddit user pointed out that while Riddhima's comments made sense overall, her reference to "house help" came off as classist, implying that those in lower socioeconomic classes shouldn't be on social media and suggesting that all trolls come from a lower status. Another commenter criticised her remark as unnecessary and elitist, questioning why anyone would use house help as an insult. A user said, "Insanely unnecessary, classist/elitist, and even senseless… who and why would anyone use house help as an insult? Its an honest way of earning a living. I understand her sentiments about her daughter’s social media presence, but no one’s honest bread & butter—and one on which the Kapoor clan & Mrs Kapoor Sahani may be themselves very dependent!—should ever be used in a derogatory manner like so. Her doing this so nonchalantly and in such a “heat of the moment” gives away her (perhaps inherent?) classist values."
