Randeep Hooda recently opened up on handling his phase of depression and shared his disappointment about his unreleased film ‘Battle of Saragarhi.’ The actor was set to essay the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, but the film was shelved which affected the artist and he slipped into depression. Randeep Hooda was set to play the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, and was a film based on the Battle of Saragarhi fought in 1897.

Sharing his disappointment over his hard work and personal sacrifices, the film remained unreleased which led the actor into a state of depression. According to a report in India Today, he expressed his deep disappointment and sensed a face of betrayal from the director of the project, Rajkumar Santoshi.

Randeep Hooda invested three years into the role and turned down several other opportunities due to the requirement of maintaining a long hair and thick beard only for the role. The actor said, “There were many situations in life when I thought there is nothing but darkness. I went through a big stage of depression. In fact, I did 'Extraction' in that stage of life when I was down and out. I even thought of leaving 'Extraction' for 'Saragarhi' and even left films for three years for 'Saragarhi'.”

He continued, “I was quite affected by it. My parents won’t leave me alone. To escape from them, I would bolt my room, fearing that someone would cut my beard. Then I decided I won’t let this happen to me ever again.”

Later on, Akshay Kumar was seen essaying the role in 2018 in the film ‘Kesari’ which was also announced in the same year, while Randeep Hooda faced betrayal from the makers of the film.

Talking about his professional front, the actor is known for his roles in ‘Highway’, ‘Kick’, ‘Jannat 2’, and ‘Sultaan.’ He will next be seen in ‘Veer Savarkar.’ The film also marks his debut as a director.
