Randeep Hooda, known for his versatile acting and dedication to his roles, is all set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, where he also portrays the lead role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Scheduled to hit theatres on March 22, the film has garnered significant attention, especially after Hooda's recent Instagram post showcasing his remarkable physical transformation for the role.

In a post on Monday, Hooda shared a shirtless picture highlighting his massive body transformation. The post, captioned 'KAALA PAANI', hints at the actor's meticulous preparation to portray scenes revolving around the cellular jail (Kaala Paani), where Savarkar was imprisoned.

Fans have been quick to applaud Hooda's dedication, with one fan likening him to Christian Bale for his commitment to the role. Another admirer praised his dedication, saying, Just look at the dedication… hats off!" This isn't the first time Hooda has undergone a drastic physical transformation for a role, as fans recalled his portrayal of Sarabjit Singh in the film 'Sarbjit', where he also went through a significant weight loss to authentically portray the character's journey.

Earlier, Hooda had shared pictures of himself visiting a cell in Kalapani, where Savarkar was imprisoned, revealing that he even tried to lock himself inside the cell during the recce to "feel what he must have gone through." However, he admitted that he couldn't stay locked for even 20 minutes, while Savarkar endured 11 years of imprisonment, often in solitary confinement.

Directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda along with Utkarsh Naithani, 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' is a highly anticipated film produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Randeep Hooda Films in association with Legend Studios and Avak Films. The film not only promises to showcase Hooda's directorial prowess but also his exceptional acting skills in portraying the life and struggles of the iconic freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
