Randeep Hooda recently shared that his family was not in support of his marriage to Mary Kom actress Lin Laishram. The Jaat actor shared that his parents wanted him to get married to a girl of his caste. He recalled that there were complications initially and it was not easy to marry Lin, who is from the northeastern state, Manipur. But with time, all the inhibitions of his parents went away. Randeep further added that he is the first one from the family to marry a ‘non-Jaat’.

While speaking to Shubhankar Mishra for his podcast, Randeep Hooda said “There were complications. Like anyone else, my parents also wanted that I marry within the caste. That’s quite prevalent in Jaats. In fact, I’m the first one from my family to marry a non-Jaat. So everybody had a problem with that, but it gradually went away.”

The actor also shared why he married late, Randeep added “I used to be very sad in school. I would think that I wouldn’t like to bring another person into this world who’d go through schooling like I did. So I never had the intention, but somehow, our paths crossed, and I’m very happy that they did. I got a little late in getting married because I joke that I don’t have a government job.”

Randeep Hooda married Lin Laishram in traditional Manipuri customs in November 2023. They got married in Imphal in the presence of close family and friends.

On the work front, Randeep Hooda can be currently seen in the latest release Jaat. The movie hit the silver screens on April 10. The film features Sunny Deol, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, Vineet Kumar Singh and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. The film collected Rs 53.50 crore after 6 days of release.
