New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Ranveer Singh on Monday shared a picture from his upcoming film 83 on social media in which the actor can be seen as former India captain Kapil Dev -- who won the first World Cup for Team India in 1983. The picture shows Ranveer Singh looking at the ball after playing a pull shot (also famous as Natraj Shot) in the square leg region. It is needless to say that the makeup artists have done a look of work to showcase his as a real Kapil Dev.
The Kabir Khan directorial is about the journey of Indian cricket during the 1983 World Cup in England, where they won the title for the first, ending the domination of West Indies. Other stars in the movie include Dhairya Karwa as Ravi Shastri, Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil,  Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad, Adinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar,  Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Nishant Dahhiya as Roger Binny, R Badree as Sunil Valson and Pankaj Tripathi as their coach PR. Following Ranveer's upload on Twitter, there were quite favourable reactions on his post. Actor Arshad Warsi retweet the post and wrote, "s Kapil Dev looking like @RanveerOfficial or is @RanveerOfficial looking like Kapil Dev…”

Ranveer's real-life wife Deepika Padukone will play the role of Kapil's wife (Romi Bhatia) in the movie. It will be the first that the couple will together on the big screen after getting married. The film will is slated to hit the theatres on April 10, 2020.
