The emergence of a deepfake video featuring Rashmika Mandanna sent shockwaves through the film industry, prompting numerous celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, to call for immediate action against this escalating threat. Recent actress to fall victim to this technically morphed videos and photos is Alia Bhatt. Amid this, Rashmika said that people have normalised deepfakes. During a press event for her upcoming film 'Animal,' starring Ranbir Kapoor, the actress reiterated her stance on the deepfake video.

Rashmika highlighted the importance of not accepting such incidents as normal, urging women to speak out when facing such challenges. She encouraged taking a stand. Speaking at the Animal launch event in Hyderabad, Rashmika said, "Deepfakes have been around for a while and we’ve normalised them but it isn’t okay. I always wondered who would even care if I chose to speak up and point out that it isn’t okay. So, I’m glad people from across the film industries have supported me. I understand now how important it is to speak up. I want to urge women to take the help they need when it happens.”

Alia Bhatt became the latest target of deepfake technology, joining a list that includes Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Sara Tendulkar, and Kajol, who have previously faced similar incidents of manipulated videos circulating on social media. The viral video featuring an altered version of Alia dressed in a floral blue outfit portrayed inappropriate gestures to the camera. However, vigilant netizens swiftly identified that the person in the video was not the actress, raising significant concerns about the misuse of AI and manipulated content.

Well, this isn't the first time that Rashmika addressed this issue. The Animal actress, expressed her concerns about a deepfake and articulated her worries on a certain platform after a morphed video of her went viral. In the clip, the woman with Rashmika’s face was seen getting into a lift, wearing a fitted black outfit. Expressing concerns, she wrote, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

"Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft," she added.
