Ratan Tata Passes Away: The revered former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away at 86 on Wednesday night. Renowned for transforming the conglomerate into India’s largest and most influential business entity through significant deals, his death has sparked widespread grief worldwide. Political and business leaders, as well as celebrities from the film industry, have shared their condolences. Simi Garewal, who publicly acknowledged her past relationship with Tata, offered a heartfelt tribute. He had been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to a sudden drop in blood pressure and was in critical condition in the ICU before his passing.
In her heartfelt tribute, Simi Garewal shared a nostalgic photo of herself with Ratan Tata from her iconic talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal and expressed deep grief, reflecting on the difficulty of bearing his loss and bidding farewell to her friend. She wrote, "They say you have gone .. It’s too hard to bear your loss..too hard.. Farewell my friend.. #RatanTata."

Earlier, Simi Garewal shared about her relationship with Ratan Tata, reflecting on their long-standing bond. She described him as the epitome of perfection, noting his sense of humour, modesty and gentlemanly nature, emphasising that financial gain was never his motivation. Although their romantic relationship eventually ended and Simi married someone else, they maintained a close friendship over the years.
Ratan Tata is a distinguished figure in Indian industry, having assumed the role of chairman of Tata Sons in 1991. Under his leadership, he transformed the Tata Group from a primarily domestic company into a global powerhouse, successfully acquiring brands such as Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover. His tenure saw the Tata Group grow into a business empire valued at over $100 billion.
Tata retired in December 2012, passing the reins to Cyrus Mistry, who tragically died in a car accident in 2022. Known for his strong work ethic, humility and generosity, Ratan Tata never married or had children, despite coming close on multiple occasions. He disclosed that he had experienced love four times but never pursued marriage for various reasons. One notable relationship occurred in the early 1960s while he was in the US, but was thwarted by external factors, including the 1962 Indo-China War.
