Raveena Tandon has ruled the silver screen in the 90s through her power-packed performances. The actress has also worked in several movies in the South including Bangaru Bullodu, Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda, KGF, and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire to name a few. Reacting to the difference in working in both industries, she said that 200 people are required to do outdoor shooting in Bollywood but in the South Indian film industry, they only work with 9 extra people during International shoots. She further recalled that for her movie Taqdeerwala (backed by a Hyderabad-based production house), five songs were shot in Mauritius with a crew consisting of 9 people.
During an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Raveena said “We shot five songs in Mauritius with a crew of only 9 people, no light men, no generators, no lights, nothing. They shot the songs with two baby lights and only reflectors, the ones with the silver foil. That’s how all the songs were shot and you look at the quality of those songs.” She also stated that in the South Indian film industry, crew used to work effortlessly and effectively on a low-budget project.
Raveena then also recalled shooting for Bollywood movies where she worked with 200 people on the sets. She said, “When I would shoot in Mumbai and we would go for outdoors from here, to Switzerland or some other place, 200 people would go along. I used to say why do you need so many people when we can do all of this work with 10 people?”
For the unversed, Taqdeerwala was the remake of the Telugu film Yamaleela directed by K Murali Mohana Rao. The 1994 movie starred Brahmanandam, Manju Bhargavi, Gundu Hanumantha Rao, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Tanikella Bharani, Indraja, and Kishore Rathi in pivotal roles.
