Retro Twitter Review: Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj worked together to create an action drama about a time gangster that has a strong love undertone. Titled Retro, the movie debuted in Tamil and Telugu on May 1st in theaters across the globe. The romantic actioner, which features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, is set in the 1970s and 1980s. The Tamil movie released with Tourist Family and Nani's HIT 3 at the box office. 

Retro, which is set against a backdrop of themes of violence, love, and atonement, stars Suriya as Paarivel Paari Kannan, a man trying to move on while coping with the fallout from his past. His wife, Rukmini Rukku, is portrayed by Pooja Hegde and is a part of his present while he attempts to put his past behind him. The story takes place in several historical periods and places and has aspects of romance and adventure.

Retro has opened to mostly positive to mixed reviews in theatres. The action scenes in particular have viewers' interest and generated exciement. Check out these reviews on X (previously Twitter) before you decide to watch the movie on the big screens.

One of the users wrote, "Only one word Suriya Suriya Suriya the show stealer of whole film @suriya_offl. @hegdepooja comeback gorgeous performance." Another user wrote, "Suriya’s is a nostalgic gem! #Suriya dazzles as a reformed gangster, and Pooja Hegde sparkles in this 90s-style action-romance. Rating the Tamil movie a four out of five, the user wrote, "First half - power packing performance of #Suriya. It'll be solid." A user also wrote on X, "Cast performance especially Suriya and Pooja. Technical aspects especially music. Wherever action comes, it'll be a good watch."
