Epstein Files Controversy: Indian-American author and spiritual guru Deepak Chopra has landed in controversy after his name surfaced in newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files. The development triggered widespread online backlash, with actress Richa Chadha emerging as one of the most vocal critics. 

Deepak Chopra came under public scrutiny after emails allegedly exchanged between him and Jeffrey Epstein were circulated online. Epstein, a convicted child sex offender, died in jail in 2019, but investigations into his network and associations continue to reveal new details. Among the leaked emails, one message reportedly attributed to Chopra read, “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.” The line quickly went viral, drawing severe criticism from social media. In his post, Chopra wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms.” He further clarified, “I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct.” Despite the clarification, public reaction remained divided.

Actress Richa Chadha publicly criticised Deepak Chopra by reposting his statement on X. Accompanying it, she wrote, “If life makes you a Deepak, be a Mohammad, not Chopra,” along with vomit emojis. Chadha’s remark was a reference to a recent viral incident involving a man named Deepak Kumar from Uttarakhand. During the incident, members of the Bajrang Dal allegedly harassed a Muslim shopkeeper. When confronted by the mob and asked his name, Deepak Kumar reportedly replied, “My name is Mohammad Deepak,” in an attempt to protect the shopkeeper and defuse the situation.
