Kannada actor, producer and director Rishab Shetty has shared his thoughts on Dhurandhar: The Revenge while conversations around the Kantara mimicry issue continue online. The filmmaker appreciated the film’s storytelling and performances, especially Ranveer Singh’s role. His positive reaction has caught attention, as it comes at a time when discussions related to the IFFI controversy are still ongoing across social media platforms.

Taking to social media, Shetty praised the film for its engaging narrative and execution. He described it as a powerful film.

Sharing his review, Rishab Shetty wrote, “#DhurandharTheRevenge, the very first scene pulls you in and never lets go. Every frame hits like a war drill. This isn’t just a sequel; it’s a statement. Brilliant storytelling, brother absolutely loved the detailing, @AdityaDharFilms. ”

Technical Aspects Get Applause

Shetty also appreciated the technical crew who worked on the film. He said, “I think the visuals that have been created by Vikash Nowlakha have been great. The music by Shashwat Sachdev and the editing by Shivkumar V. Panicker have added depth to the whole experience.”

What is the Kantara Mimicry Controversy

The controversy began when Ranveer Singh imitated the Daiva scene from Kantara: Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 held in Goa. Singh appreciated Shetty's work while mentioning the scene with Chamundi Daiva.

Why Social Media Reacted

Many people felt that the performance was insensitive to the cultural and spiritual importance of Daiva traditions. Some users also objected to Singh calling it a ‘ghost,’ explaining that Daivas are worshipped as forest deities. The issue gained more attention after another clip showed Shetty cautioning Singh about the mimicry.

Later, a petition was filed against Ranveer Singh in the Karnataka High Court, where he granted interim relief on 23rd February 2026.
