Robert Pattinson is creating a buzz in South Korea and it’s not just because of his upcoming film Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon Ho. The Hollywood star will make a brief appearance on the beloved South Korean variety show Running Man while promoting the movie. He captured hearts at the press call by doing aegyo and making finger hearts.
While in South Korea for Mickey 17 promotions, Pattinson attended a press conference with Bong Joon Ho at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. Speculation arose when members of the Running Man cast and crew were spotted near the venue. However, a representative clarified that Pattinson was not an official guest but coincidentally passed by the filming location, making a brief, unplanned appearance. Fans can catch this moment on the February 9, 2025, episode of the show.

At the Mickey 17 press call, Pattinson charmed fans by making finger hearts and performing aegyo—a popular, cute gesture in Korean culture. A video of the moment, shared on fan pages, quickly went viral. Fans were overjoyed, with one commenting, “Robert hyung graduating from the University of Aegyo with summa cum laude,” while another called it a “cultural crossover moment.”
During the event, Pattinson expressed admiration for Bong Joon Ho, describing him as one of the world’s best directors. The actor revealed that he has been a long-time fan of Bong’s work, particularly Memories of Murder, which he praised for its ability to balance absurdity and seriousness. “Actors want to work with someone who challenges their limits and brings out new possibilities. Director Bong is exactly that kind of filmmaker,” Pattinson shared.

The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. Directed, written and produced by Bong Joon Ho, Mickey 17 will be released in the United States on March 7, 2025.
