Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty were a hit actor-director pair of Bollywood after their blockbuster 2013 film Chennai Express. However, their next 2015 project together, Dilwale, didn’t seem to go well. The film could not perform as per expectations, as it earned Rs 148.42 crore while it was made on a budget of Rs 165.00 crore. Since the poor box office performance of Diwale, some reports claimed that Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty’s fallout. The filmmaker has now broken silence on this matter and denied all the rift claims with SRK. 

In a conversation with Komal Nahta on the Game Changers podcast, Rohit Shetty dismissed the reports of his rift with Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “Nahi aisa kuch nahi.” He further explained and said, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha. (There's nothing like that. We have mutual respect. We started our own production house after Dilwale. We decided to make our own films so that if we face a loss, it is on us. However, we did not face a loss in Dilwale).” Shetty stated that Dilwale had a major success overseas. Notably, it was produced by SRK and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film faced a major box office clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.

Dilwale also stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever, Vinod Khanna, Chetna Pande, Sanjay Mishra, Kabir Bedi, Mukesh Tiwari, Nawab Shah and Boman Irani in key roles. The romantic comedy action film is currently streaming on Netflix. It hit the silver screens on December 18, 2015.
