Inheriting the thespian essence from her illustrious father, the talented Saiee Manjrekar embraced the world of acting with an innate flair. She entered the Bollywood industry in a prominent manner through her debut in the film Dabangg 3, starring alongside Salman Khan. Saiee captivated audiences with her authenticity and impressive acting abilities, garnering a large fan base. Following her successful foray into Bollywood, she ventured into the Telugu film industry, making her debut alongside Varun Tej in Ghani. She further showcased her talent in the film Major, where she appeared alongside Adivi Sesh. Once again, Saiee exhibited her exceptional skills and affirmed that she is here to stay.

Now the actress is gearing up for the highly anticipated film, 'Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay,' where she shares the screen with the dynamic Guru Randhawa. In an exclusive conversation with Jagran English, Saiee Manjrekar delved into various aspects of her upcoming project, her collaboration with Guru Randhawa, the contrasting nuances between the southern and northern film industries, her profound bond with Adivi Sesh, and a plethora of other intriguing topics. Here are some excerpts from the interview.

What made you choose to be a part of this project, 'Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay'?

It is the most beautifully woven story. There is comedy, drama, love and family. I was like, This is something I've wanted to do for so long. I have grown up watching Hum Saath Saath Hain, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, like quintessential family drama romance movies. So I just knew right then that this was something I had to do. We were discussing dates at our first meeting.

How was it to share the screen with Guru Randhawa?

It was so much fun. We have had the most fun time on set and with each other. I am so glad to have found a friend in him while shooting this movie. He is such a sweetheart, such a kind, compassionate person. It's been amazing. He is such a good actor.

After your debut with Dabangg 3, why didn't you appear in any major Bollywood film?

I think for me, it was more about exploring different kinds of cinema before I kind of stick myself or stamp myself on one thing. I wanted to dip my toes and feet into everything and see what was working, what was not. When I heard 'Major,' with the kind of projects that came my way, there were few Bollywood projects and if we put up with Major, I was like, Which role requires more from me as an actor? And it was always 'Major.'

How was it to work with Adivi Sesh on 'Major'?

It was so lovely. Sesh is someone I will always cherish for the rest of my life. He gave me Isha, which is such an important role in my life. The way he used to guide me every single day on set, I will never forget that. I am always grateful.

You shared that you watch interviews of your contemporaries; Which is that one person you admire the most?

I think Sara is lovely in interviews. She is much senior, even movies wise. The way she carries herself, speaks and conducts herself comes with a lot of hard work. That is really admirable.

You revealed that you practice interviews in front of a mirror; Do interviews make you conscious?

No, not conscious, but sometimes you say something and it is taken in a completely different sense. I like to be myself, but i also don't like to say things that will be taken out of context in the wrong way. That is very nerve-wrecking.

Having worked in both industries, is there some difference you notice about the co-stars?

I am a very adaptive person in general. I am a leech; I leech onto people's vibes. Sesh was like, when he wanted to joke, he joked, but he was more serious on set. So I would start having smart, intellectual conversations with him. On the other hand, Guru is more like an easy going individual, and so I become like that. I am very adaptive with my personality on set and with people. It also helps the movie if you can adapt to different kinds of characters.

Why should everyone watch 'Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay'?

It's a really happy-go-lucky film made with a lot of heart and with a lot of love put into it. Even now, when I watch it, I am cracking up. Sometimes when I watch the film and I start laughing, It's just so cathartic, and I feel this is what I needed to feel better today. I hope that we can be your 'this is what i needed to feel better.'
