Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar confirmed that Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent a gruelling five-hour surgery following a knife attack at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday. The actor, who sustained six stab wounds, is now in stable condition but requires ample rest to recover.

As per PTI, while speaking to reporters after visiting Lilavati Hospital, Shelar emphasized the need for sensitivity and urged against politicizing the tragic incident. “Saif suffered six stab wounds and underwent five-hour surgery. He needs rest. We must ensure the family recovers from the trauma and shock. It is inappropriate to indulge in politics over the incident,” he stated.

Shelar also revealed that the Mumbai Police have formed 10 teams to track down the assailant. “The incident is serious. I have conveyed to the police the sentiments of the people, who want the arrest of the culprit at the earliest,” he added. The authorities are actively working on leads provided by CCTV footage, which captured the suspect entering and exiting the building.

The shocking attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. at Saif Ali Khan’s high-rise apartment in Bandra West. According to initial investigations, the intruder gained access to the actor’s home via a fire escape and entered with the intent to commit burglary. Saif’s house help spotted the intruder, and a confrontation ensued, during which the actor was stabbed six times.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital with a knife lodged in his spine. Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove the blade and repair spinal damage. The actor also sustained deep wounds to his arm and neck, which required immediate medical attention.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, has requested privacy during this challenging time. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support but urged the media to refrain from speculation and respect the family’s boundaries as they cope with the incident.
