Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: A Mumbai court on Sunday placed a 30-year-old man in the Saif Ali Khan attack case under police custody till January 24. The Mumbai Police brought the accused before a Bandra holiday court at 1.30 PM.

The attacker, identified by the police as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally and changed his name to Bijoy Das, was apprehended from Hiranandani Estate on Ghodbandar Road in the neighbouring Thane district early on Sunday morning.

Saif Ali Khan was rushed to a Lilavati Hospital in the city after suffering six stab wounds in the incident that occurred at around two in the morning. The Bollywood actor underwent a six-hour-long surgery.

The police provided several justifications for their request for police custody. According to Mumbai Police, it's critical to determine how and why the accused entered India illegally. The police said it was also critical to find out if he was accompanied by anyone else. Additionally, Shehzad was aware that he was going into a celebrity's home, according to Public Prosecutor Kishor Patil.

Mohammed Shehzad was not Bangladeshi, according to the accused's attorney, Sandip Sherkhani, who also objected to police custody. Since the remand did not explain why police custody is essential, he claimed that it was not necessary. Additionally, according to the lawyer, Shehzad has been residing in Mumbai for the last seven years.
