Salman Khan is set to team up with renowned filmmaker Karan Johar for the upcoming movie, 'The Bull'. This partnership marks a significant reunion, occurring 25 years after Salman played a supporting role in Karan's directorial debut, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. 'The Bull' will see Salman Khan step into the shoes of Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, portraying the pivotal role of the officer who led Operation Cactus in 1988 in the Maldives. The film, directed by Vishnu Vardhan of 'Shershaah' fame and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, is slated to begin filming in February.
The plot centres around a retelling of Operation Cactus, a historic event that unfolded on November 3, 1988. During this operation, the Indian armed forces played a crucial role in assisting the Maldives in reclaiming control after a coup attempt led by businessman Abdullah Luthufi and the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE).
Indian forces swiftly neutralized the mercenaries, restoring control to President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s government within hours. Salman Khan's dedication to authenticity is evident as he undergoes extensive training, dedicating 3.5 hours every day to embody the physicality of the paramilitary officer he portrays in 'The Bull'.
Karan Johar, reminiscing about their longstanding association, wished Salman Khan on his 58th birthday with a heartfelt note. Reflecting on their initial meeting 25 years ago, Karan shared a throwback picture from Salman's debut in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. He recounted how Salman's sister, Alvira Khan, spoke highly of Karan's script, leading to their collaboration. Expressing gratitude for the goodwill of Alvira Khan and his father, Karan acknowledged Salman's pivotal role in his debut film. He teased fans with a hint about their upcoming venture, stating, "25 years later, we will finally have a story to tell again... not saying any more than that."
