Twitter appears to have decided to play around with its users, specifically those who are verified. On Thursday, Twitter launched its paid service called Twitter Blue, resulting in many high-profile "legacy accounts" losing their blue check marks as they had not subscribed to Twitter Blue. This affected prominent figures in the entertainment industry in India, including popular actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, who no longer have verified accounts on the platform.
Apart from the two Khans and Big B, Alia Bhatt, Rajinikanth, Ram Charan, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra have also lost their blue ticks. Now taking to the micro-blogging site, Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his concern and remarked, "Hey twitter bahiyya! Are you listening? Now we have filled the money too... So that blue lotus is there, right, put it back brother, so that people know that we are the ones - Amitabh Bachchan .. with folded hands. Now, should I touch your feet too??"

Actor Prakash Raj, who also lost his verified check mark, wrote, "Bye bye #BlueTick …. It was nice having you….my journey ..my conversations..my sharing…will continue with my people … you take care #justasking."
People created memes in response to celebrities losing their verified status on Twitter. Many of these memes used a side-by-side template to compare the celebrities to their lookalikes. Check the tweets below.

The Associated Press reported that prior to this, Twitter had approximately 300,000 verified users, most of whom were individuals and organisations in various fields including arts, science, sports, and politics.
The cost of maintaining the blue check mark varies depending on the type of account, with celebrities being charged $8, organisations being charged $1,000 per month, and affiliated accounts with organisations being charged $50 per month.
