Salman Khan's 1989 film 'Maine Pyar Kiya' holds a special place in the hearts of many, including the actor himself. In a recent interview, the Bollywood superstar opened up about an emotional moment he experienced while shooting the popular song 'Kabootar Ja Ja Ja'.
Salman, who was about 18 years old at the time, recalled how this moment made him realize his potential in the film industry. "During several narrations, I’d imagine Jackie Shroff or Anil Kapoor in those roles, but I could never actually see myself doing big films. That moment was the first time I really felt, ‘Yes, I can do this’. I had tears in my eyes," Salman shared with Hello! Indo-Arabia.
Directed by Sooraj Barjatya and released in December 1989, 'Maine Pyar Kiya' featured Salman Khan and Bhagyashree in the lead roles. The film was a massive hit and catapulted Salman to stardom. Reflecting on the film's success, Salman expressed his gratitude towards his fans in an open letter. He thanked them for their support and promised to focus on good scripts, knowing that future projects would be compared to 'Maine Pyar Kiya'.
In his heartfelt letter, Salman wrote, "I love you and I hope that you will keep on loving me because the day you stop loving me, you’ll stop seeing my films and that is the end of my career. Remember, you are the people who make people like us."
On the professional front, Salman Khan was last seen in 'Tiger 3', directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-starring Katrina Kaif. Looking ahead, Salman is set to star in AR Murugadoss' 'Sikandar', slated for release on Eid 2025.
