In 2012, the jungle-adventure film 'Sher Khan' was announced, featuring Salman Khan and Kapil Sharma. Anticipated to be a visually stunning action spectacle with extensive use of VFX, the project was indefinitely postponed due. 'Sher Khan' was intended to be produced and directed by Sohail Khan. Now, it appears that Sohail is preparing to resurrect the project. During a recent promotional event for Celebrity Cricket League season 10, he spoke about his return to grand Hindi cinema with 'Sher Khan.'
Disclosing his plans to commence production in 2025, Sohail told News18, "That’s (VFX) one area where technology is growing by bounds. Every time we would finish the scripting of Sher Khan, I would watch another Marvel film and that used to make me feel backdated in terms of what I’ve written and how I want the action to be. I knew that by the time the film comes out, it would look backdated."
Over the years, Sohail has succeeded in deciphering the formula behind Hollywood superhero films and fantasy action adventures, resonating with audiences and achieving tremendous success at the box office. "That fear of thinking about creating something that would release three years later is something I needed to tame. I realised that I’ve to think of something that’s the future and not the present. That’s exactly where Marvel and DC films score. They pre-empt what’s going to happen. Our action is more human, so when we go into technology-based action, there’s a slack. We think of the present times while the rest of the world keeps moving on," he explained.
Furthermore, he disclosed his intention to resume work on his long-awaited romantic comedy, 'My Punjabi Nikah,' this year. Reports had previously indicated that the film was set to star Aayush Sharma.
Salman Khan's other projects
The actor is gearing up for another project in collaboration with Bollywood's renowned producer Sajid Nadiadwala. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the actor-producer duo is set to collaborate on a global action film with a budget of Rs 400 crore, marking their partnership after a decade since the release of 'Kick.'
It appears that Salman Khan's collaboration with Karan Johar on 'The Bull' has been postponed for the time being. According to the report, the filming locations for the upcoming movie will span European countries like Portugal, as well as locations in India.
