Telugu actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is facing criticism online for her alleged "fake" accent, following Jr NTR's case. Samantha, who will star in the Indian spin-off of Citadel with Varun Dhawan, recently attended the London premiere of the original American TV series, featuring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.

At the event, The Family Man 2 star spoke to the media on the red carpet about her vital role in the spy thriller. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Samantha's accent.

A video of Samantha Ruth Prabhu talking about her role in the Indian version of Citadel with Varun Dhawan has gone viral online, with mixed reactions to her accent on social media.

One user tweeted, "I adore her a lot but the way she is faking her accent. She should have spoken in Indian accent only." Another added, "Cringe."

Another video of Samantha introducing herself and discussing her role in Citadel has also gone viral, with people on Twitter expressing mixed reactions to her accent. Some users even criticised her for changing her accent, calling it "disappointing," while others defended her and said that it is her choice to speak in any way she wants.

A user commented, "Accent is her choice but what's wrong in being yourself and proudly carry the Indian accent?"

"May be she isn't proud of the Indian accent. If I were her, I wouldn't carry the Indian accent because I know how stupid it is to talk in Telugu with the Tamil/ Hindi/ English accent. So with the respect I have to every language I would desire to learn their lang in their accent," another remarked.

Previously, Jr NTR, a well-known South Indian actor and Oscar-winning movie RRR star, was also criticised for their accents when videos of them from the Academy Award events had gone viral on social media.

On the work front, Samantha recently appeared in the movie Shaakuntalam alongside Dev Mohan, which was released in cinemas on April 14. Apart from Citadel, she also has Kushi coming up with Vijay Deverakonda.
