The controversy around the song Sarke Chunar Teri from the movie KD: The Devil has taken a new turn as the song was removed due to the backlash against its lyrics. The song, which features Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, was accused of being vulgar in nature. Now, the director of the movie, Prem, has spoken about the controversy, clarifying the rumours, stating the reason behind the controversy, and mentioning the steps taken to solve the problem.

Prem Denies Sarke Chunar Controversy Strategy

Talking with Hindustan Times, director Prem dismissed allegations of generating controversy for publicity. He said, “I don’t want any controversy. Mine is an emotional film, and the song is meant to be something people dance to at parties.” He also added, “The song was, anyway, well-received in Karnataka and Kerala. So, why would we want to generate controversy?”

Director Said The Language Gap Led To Issues

According to Prem, the confusion arose due to linguistic differences. He said, “While I penned the original Kannada version, the Hindi lyrics were penned by Raqueeb Alam. I did not understand the Hindi words used in the translation, as I am not proficient in the language.” This is how the confusion remained unnoticed.

Song Revised And Sent For Approval

After facing criticism, the makers have made some changes in the controversial parts of the song. The new version will be sent for Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval.
