On Thursday, Hansal Mehta took to his official Instagram handle and announced the third season of his blockbuster series Scam. Expanding on the triumph of ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ and ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’, the latest addition will explore the intricacies of one of India’s renowned financial controversies - 'Scam 2010 - The Subrata Roy Saga'.

The web series will be based on the life of businessman Subrata Roy and on the book Shara: The Untold Story. The filmmaker shared the motion poster and wrote, “Sc3m is back! Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, coming soon on @sonylivindia.”

About Scam 2010

The production of 'Scam' Season 3 is undertaken by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Studio Next, with direction by Hansal Mehta. While the release date and cast of the show are still pending announcement, it is confirmed to premiere on the OTT platform Sony LIV.

Hansal Mehta said in a statement, "Scam is not just a franchise for me. It is a chronicling of our times. I’m thrilled to collaborate again with Applause and Sony LIV to bring this larger-than-life story alive.”

'Scam 2010' recounts the transformational journey of maverick businessman Subrata Roy, from rags to riches. During the early 2000s, Roy, known for his glamorous lifestyle, found himself entangled in a series of allegations, including chit-fund manipulations and dealing with fake investors. These accusations culminated in his arrest in 2014. Despite this, around 25,000 crore rupees remain unclaimed with government authorities, indicating the ongoing impact and consequences of the Scam even today.
