To kick off 2023, Shah Rukh Khan delivered a monumental hit with his film Pathaan, breaking records as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever with a whopping Rs 512 crore in North India alone. He's now gearing up for his next release, the highly anticipated Hindi film Jawan directed by Atlee, which is expected to make a huge impact at the box office. The film boasts an impressive cast with Shah Rukh Khan leading alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with cameos from Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
However, now according to a report by Pinkvilla, Jawan has been postponed and a new release date will be announced soon. A source close to the film's development revealed that the decision to delay the release was made because the team needs more time to complete the visual effects of the movie.
The source further added that the VFX team has been working hard for the past few months, but the process is taking longer than anticipated, and they want to deliver a product that can compete with the best in the country rather than a substandard one.
Several international companies are collaborating with Red Chillies on the VFX of Jawan, and a new release date will be disclosed soon. The team is currently considering June 29 and all four weeks of August, but it is likely that Jawan will now be released in August.
"The team is contemplating on several dates but they need to be in sync with the VFX guidelines. The dates being considered at the moment are June 29, and all the four weeks of August. In all probability, Jawan will be an August release now, as Shah Rukh Khan and team now want to give adequate time to the VFX. August 11 and August 25 are heavily being discussed by all stakeholders at Red Chillies," the entertainment portal quoted the source as saying.
The mentioned dates for the release of Jawan are not confirmed and are subject to change. At the moment, the possibility of the movie releasing on August 11 or August 25 seems higher, though this may change in the future. Other movies with confirmed release dates include Satyaprem Ki Katha on June 29, Animal, Gadar 2 and Vaccine War on August 11, and Dream Girl 2 and Raula on August 25. Additionally, Rajinikanth's Jailer is set to release on August 10 and will be a competitor in the Tamil market.
"The team at Red Chillies is taking everything into account before announcing a certain date. They are committed to bring an uncompromised product and will now announce a date in a way that the film is no more delayed. The talk of delaying had been going on for a while, however, the stakeholders were hopeful on VFX to be complete by early May," the source added.
