Shah Rukh Khan, who is enjoying the success of Dunki at the box office, has sparked considerable speculation regarding his next project. Recent reports indicate that the actor is engaged in discussions with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for an upcoming collaboration. There's buzz suggesting that Pathaan actor is on the verge of signing a film with abovementioned director for his upcoming project.
According to HT, "There is inside chatter in the industry that Shah Rukh Khan is signing a Vishal Bhardwaj film for his next. The plan is in sync with his desire to keep surprising the audiences with his film choices." The potential collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj hints at a project reflecting latter's trademark storytelling—filled with thrills and various intricate shades.
While Bhardwaj's cinematic style diverges significantly from Shah Rukh Khan's usual filmography and public image, the actor appears eager to embrace this divergence. "Yes, Bhardwaj’s world of cinema is very different from the cinematic world and image of Shah Rukh. But the actor is ready to take it up as it offers something new to him. He has really liked the script with the two being in discussion mode for the same at the moment".
The source also notes that Shah Rukh Khan has a history of making unconventional choices throughout his career, citing his collaboration with Amol Palekar in 'Paheli.' "Shah Rukh has made all such unconventional choices all through his career. He has also worked with Amol Palekar in Paheli in the past, so it will be interesting what he would bring to Bhardwaj’s world. However, the industry is waiting for confirmation from either of them soon," the report added.
Shah Rukh Khan's work front
Shah Rukh Khan had an impressive 2023. The superstar appeared in three notable films - 'Pathaan,' 'Jawan,' and 'Dunki.' Each of these movies made its mark at the box office, garnering positive responses from audiences and enjoying considerable success in theaters.
Rajkumar Hirani helmed 'Dunki,' released on December 21, 2023, featured SRK and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles, with a cameo appearance by Vicky Kaushal. The film amassed a remarkable Rs 436.39 crore globally, equivalent to approximately US$55 million, thereby exceeding both its production and marketing costs, which totaled Rs 120 crore (US$15 million).
