Shahid Kapoor stands as one of the most accomplished actors in the film industry. Throughout his career, he has masterfully portrayed a myriad of characters, consistently showcasing his exceptional acting prowess. One of the most remarkable instances of his craft was witnessed in his role in the 2014 film 'Haider'. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, this political drama is set in the tumultuous backdrop of Kashmir and draws its inspiration from William Shakespeare's Hamlet. In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor candidly shared a surprising revelation: he willingly chose not to receive any payment for his compelling portrayal in 'Haider'.
Talking to Anupama Chopra, the actor said, "They couldn’t afford me. They said if they had to pay me, then the budget of the film wouldn’t get sanctioned because it was a very experimental subject. They really didn’t know if it would land at all but it was a very compelling kind of product to make and so I said, ‘Yeah, I will do it for free'." He added, “It was only time I did it. It just happened at that time. I said, ‘Yeah let’s do it, it’s okay."

With a chuckle, the actor mentioned that the experience had been incredible and emphasized that it can only be an exception rather than a regular occurrence because, as he put it, "Ghar bhi chalana hai (I have to take care of my household as well)."

In terms of his professional commitments, Shahid Kapoor has been keeping busy. His recent appearances on screen include his roles in 'Farzi,' in which he starred alongside the talented Raashii Khanna, and 'Bloody Daddy.' Both of these projects were released on OTT platforms and were met with resounding critical acclaim. Looking ahead, Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for his next project, an untitled romantic comedy co-starring the ever-charming Kriti Sanon.
