Shahid Kapoor recently made an appearance on 'No Filter Neha' where he discussed the prevalent issue of the Hindi film industry's reluctance to embrace outsiders. Opening up about the hurdles he faced at the outset of his career and the entrenched 'camp culture' in Bollywood, Shahid criticised the industry's lack of inclusivity toward outsiders. Despite being the son of Shekhar Kapur and Neelima Azeem, the actor considers himself an outsider, having migrated from Delhi to Mumbai. He candidly recounted instances of mistreatment he endured.
Shahid emphasised the challenges faced by newcomers, urging his colleagues not to overlook or demean them. Recalling his early days, Shahid revealed, "When I entered the industry, I realised it’s like a school. Bahar waale ko aasani se accept nahi karte ye log, inko bada problem hota hai ke tum aa kaise gaye bander (They don’t readily accept outsiders. It’s a big problem for them – how did you manage to get in)?"
He also expressed his disapproval of the factionalism in Bollywood and recounted facing mistreatment, stating, "I don’t like this campy thing. I feel that people who want to creatively collaborate with each other, should. People are comfortable with each other, should. But that doesn’t mean you diss other people or put other people down or you close the doors to other people. And I think that that’s something which does happen in this fraternity. Maybe I don’t have the qualities to be a campy person. I was from Delhi, came to Mumbai, and I wasn’t accepted in my class. I was the outsider because of my different accent, and I faced mistreatment for a long time."

He also discussed his journey of forming friendships, mentioning, "I would be in a new building, trying to make friends with people who didn’t know me. I went to Shiamak (Davar) and college, where I finally felt accepted and had my own group before becoming an actor with ‘Ishq Vishq Pyaar Vyaar’ in 2013."
On the professional front, Shahid Kapoor was recently featured in the film 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiyaa' alongside Kriti Sanon. The film tells an unconventional romantic story involving a man and a robot, with Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia playing significant roles. Aryan (played by Shahid Kapoor) is a bachelor and tech developer facing challenges in finding the right partner. Urmila (portrayed by Dimple Kapadia), Aryan's aunty and the founder of E-Robotics, a leading robotics company in the USA, invites him to collaborate on a project. It's during his time in the USA that Aryan encounters Sifra (played by Kriti Sanon), a robot, and gradually develops feelings for her. Co-produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Laxman Utekar, the film promises to engage audiences with its unique storyline.
