Bollywood veteran actress Sharmila Tagore’s charismatic screen presence is cherished till date. The actress, who represented the aura of a modernised woman on screen in the 60s and 70s, always carried the same spirit in her personal life too. Recently, Sharmila shared that after her marriage with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (also known as Tiger Pataudi), she was suggested to go to the kitchen thrice a day. She refused the advice given by her husband and further gave a strong reason for not doing it. The Kashmir Ki Kali actress recalled that Pataudi then started making good food.

At Mother’s Day event for YFLO, Sharmila said, “My husband told me ‘you should go to the kitchen at least three times a day.’ I said ‘Tiger, that is a very bad idea. It would be very very counterproductive if I went to the kitchen. I will start asking ‘Yeh nai hai, woh kaha hai. Somebody would resign. It’s much better if I don’t go to the kitchen.’”

She also shared, “At the end he gave up and started cooking himself. That was so clever of me, He started making such wonderful things. It made him so confident. He started calling people for recipes. He would make a new dish, watch YouTube, and ask friends for recipes. Once I was in London, someone called and said ‘he gave us this fantastic meal.’ He was doing very well without me going to the kitchen.”
