Bollywood's connection with remakes is no secret, and over the years, numerous South Indian films have been adapted into Hindi films. While some of these remakes have found success, there have been instances where Bollywood has failed to recreate the magic of the South. Let's take a look at Bollywood remakes of South Indian films that tanked badly at the box office.

Shehzada

Kartik Aaryan's movie Shehzada is a remake of the highly successful Allu Arjun film, 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.' However, 'Shehzada,' in contrast, ended up being a major disappointment. Despite the makers delaying its release to avoid being overshadowed by the massive success of Pathaan, unfortunately, the film failed to make a positive impression on the audience.

Bachchan Pandey

Bachchan Pandey, an official adaptation of the Tamil film 'Jigarthanda,' faced failure. The movie, featuring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon, hit theaters on March 18, 2022. Unfortunately, the Farhad Samji directorial did not succeed at the box office.

Selfiee

Starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, the remake of the Malayalam film 'Driving License' was directed by Raj Mehta. However, the film's performance at the box office was disappointing, marked by low ticket sales and it became a flop.

Vikram Vedha

The film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, is a remake of the well-received 2017 Tamil movie with the same title. Directed by Pushkar and Gayatri, the remake experienced a lackluster performance at the box office.

Jersey

The film featuring Shahid Kapoor is an adaptation of the 2019 Telugu movie of the same name. Despite the actor's acclaimed performance, the movie struggled to succeed financially. The film, also starring Mrunal Thakur, ended up being a letdown at the box office.

Bollywood's love affair with South Indian cinema continues, but these unfortunate attempts serve as a reminder that recreating the magic of a successful original is no easy feat. In the world of remakes, success isn't guaranteed, and these Hindi remakes stand as an example.
