Mallika Sherawat recently discussed the challenges she faced in Bollywood due to her bold on-screen persona, and her comments are going viral on Reddit. She revealed that many top actors assumed her daring roles meant she would be open to compromising off-screen as well. These actors would often call her at night, expecting her to meet them, believing her on-screen boldness reflected her personal life. However, Mallika firmly rejected these advances, emphasising her commitment to her values. She candidly acknowledged that her refusal to meet these inappropriate expectations ultimately led to her being sidelined in the industry, resulting in fewer roles as she refused to engage in the power dynamics some actors sought.
According to a viral Reddit post, Mallika said, "Some heroes would call me and say ‘come and see me at night’. Aur main phone pe kehti thi, ‘Why should I come and see you at night? For what?’ They would say, ‘Aree tum itne bold roles kar leti ho screen pe, toh mere ko raat ko milne mein kya problem hai?’ The heroes were taking this kind of liberties with me. They were thinking ke jab yeh parde pe itne bold scenes karti hai, toh humare saath bhi bold ho sakti hai, humare saath bhi toh compromise kar sakti hai. I am not like that."
