Kirron Kher's son, Sikandar Kher, played a behind-the-scenes role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's iconic movie Devdas. The actor worked as an assistant director (AD) on the set, specifically responsible for capturing the behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage for the movie. Devdas boasted an impressive cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff and Kirron Kher in key roles. In a recent conversation with Tape A Tale, Sikandar shared memorable anecdotes from his experience on the movie set.
Sikandar Kher recalls Devdas diaries
Sikandar Kher said, “I remember saying that I wanted to shoot the making of the film because it was a big movie and there was a lot of buzz around it, like all of Sanjay’s pictures. People struggle to create a buzz around their film, but he can take his time making his movie and there is always a buzz around it.”
“I was struggling in procuring a handycam, and Shah Rukh gave me his own, and it was a very cool setup; it had various lenses and a tripod, and I ended up shooting 22 hours of footage. In the scene where Shah Rukh is breaking the bottles, he cut his finger, and I went in with my camera using the night vision and got that footage,” he further added.
Sikandar noted, “I have had firsthand experience of watching him work, and he is the most giving actor that I have seen. From what I have seen and heard from people, he is the most amazing person to be on set with. He is so secure within himself that he will give you his own lines just to make the scene work.”
SRK Upcoming Projects: Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film, King, is an action-packed drama directed by Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh. The film, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix, is set to begin filming in June 2025 and is expected to release in late 2026.
