About Silsila: Silsila, the iconic 1981 Bollywood film, generated immense buzz during its production, largely due to its casting. The film's principal photography took place across various exotic locations, including Amsterdam, Bombay (now Mumbai), Delhi and Kashmir, spanning from November 1980 to May 1981. Despite the hype, Silsila unfortunately failed to impress at the box office, releasing on August 14, 1981 and grossing a mere ₹30 million, equivalent to ₹610 million or US$7.1 million in 2023.
The film, however, did receive some recognition at the 29th Filmfare Awards, with nominations for Best Actor (Amitabh Bachchan), Best Actress (Jaya Bachchan) and Best Music Director (Shiv–Hari). Critically, Silsila faced negative reviews, with many criticising the storyline and the cast's performances.
Notably, Sunil Sethi of India Today described the film as "pretty nothingness," emphasising its lackluster impact. Despite this, Silsila remains a notable film in Bollywood history, marking a significant milestone in the careers of its lead actors and director Yash Chopra.
