Naga Chaitanya's much-anticipated film Thandel, which also stars Sai Pallavi, is set to hit theatres on February 7. While the movie has been making waves, it seems there’s a small hiccup for Chaitanya’s wife, Sobhita Dhulipala. During a promotional event in Hyderabad, Chay opened up about a moment that left his wife feeling upset.
The actor revealed that Sobhita wasn’t too pleased when the song featuring the words “bujji thalli” was released. For context, “bujji thalli” is a nickname that Naga Chaitanya lovingly calls his wife. At the event, Chay was asked if he would dedicate a song or a dialogue from Thandel to Sobhita. His response was that he’d dedicate the “Bujji Thalli” song to her, as it was a term of endearment he uses at home. However, Sobhita wasn’t thrilled when she heard it in the song.
Chay explained, “I told Chandoo [the director] about calling her bujji thalli before we made the film. She felt bad when we released the song because she felt it was exclusive to her, and I used it in the film.”
Director Chandoo Mondeti also chimed in, recalling an earlier conversation with Sobhita. He said, "I was actually surprised. When I attended one of their wedding events, she told me that her nickname was bujji thalli. She said, 'I let it be when you used it in the film, but now you’ve made a song too?'"
The term "bujji thalli" translates loosely to "loved one," which is why it holds such a personal connection for the couple.
The film Thandel has created excitement for its gripping plot about fishermen who accidentally drift into Pakistani waters and end up detained by the Coast Guard. It also features a love story that blossoms amid the characters' struggles. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the movie marks the second collaboration between Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi after their successful partnership in Love Story.
Ahead of the film’s release, Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi also delighted fans at a pre-release event by performing an impromptu rendition of their hit song Namo Namah Shivaya, adding to the growing anticipation for the film. Thandel is set to be released on February 7.
