Veteran actress Son Ye Jin is reportedly considering a role in the upcoming Kdrama Variety. If confirmed, this would mark her return to television after nearly two years, with her last drama being Thirty-Nine in 2022. Variety is a thriller set in the competitive world of Kpop idols and is directed by Mask Girl’s Kim Yong-hoon.

According to reports, Son Ye Jin has received an offer to portray a strong and charismatic character. While the role is said to be inspired by Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR, details about the character remain under wraps. The drama is expected to explore the glamorous yet intense world of the idol industry, shedding light on its challenges and high stakes.

Alongside Son Ye Jin, former IZ*ONE member Jo Yuri is also in discussions for a lead role. Jo Yuri, who gained acting recognition with her appearance in Squid Game Season 2, is actively building her career in the entertainment industry. If she joins the project, Variety could serve as a significant stepping stone in her acting journey.

Adding to the buzz, there is speculation that current idol group members may also be part of the cast. While no official confirmations have been made, the possibility of real-life idols portraying roles in a drama centred around the Kpop industry has piqued fans’ interest.

Amid the growing excitement, both Son Ye Jin’s agency and CJ ENM Studios have clarified that no final casting decisions have been made. While Son Ye Jin is reviewing the offer, she has not confirmed her participation. Similarly, the production team has not officially announced Jo Yuri’s involvement but acknowledged she is being considered. For now, fans eagerly await further updates as the casting process for Variety unfolds.
