Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have been facing a lot of backlash after their interfaith marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai, has recently shared a series of pictures from their reception. Amid the trolling, the actress shared a strong message that their union had a divine intervention. In the note, they also stated that they always wished, hoped and prayed to be together.

In an Instagram post, Sonakshi captioned “Whattttt a day!!!! The love, the laughter, the togetherness, the excitement, the warmth, the support from every one of our friends, families and teams… it was like the universe came together for two people in love to give them exactly what they’ve always hoped, wished and prayed for, If this is not divine intervention… we dont know what is. We are both truly blessed to have each other and so much love protecting us.”

Earlier today, Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha lashed out at people, who protested in his hometown Patna. The protesters staged a march against the actress’ interfaith marriage and asked her not to come to Bihar’s capital city. In an interview with Times Now, Shatrughan said “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kucch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional.”

“A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kucch nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say),” the veteran actor added.
