Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya introduced Salman Khan to the world of cinema in 1989 with the iconic character Prem in the film Maine Pyaar Kiya. The actor and director collaborated on films such as Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Now, Sooraj Barjatya has spilled the beans about his upcoming venture with Salman Khan, which will feature a new Prem and a more mature narrative compared to their previous collaborations.
Sooraj Barjatya And Salman Khan’s New Movie
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sooraj Barjatya revealed details about teaming up with Salman Khan again for his next film. He explained that creating a new version of Prem is taking more time. He said, “It is on the cards. But it is going to take a little more time because we have to accept that age is now there. I have to create a new Prem. It has to suit his age. You cannot expect him to do the same thing that we have been doing till now."
Further elaborating on the film, Sooraj Barjatya continued, "So, to suit that age is taking me a little more time so that I can create a fresh Prem for him that goes with the same fun, masti and family values. But it will be on a different maturity level. That is an experiment that is taking a little more time."

Sooraj is also entering the OTT space as a showrunner with Bada Naam Karenge, a project under his banner Rajshri Productions. Directed by Palash Vasvani, the web series stars Ritik Ghanshani, Ayesha Kaduskar, Kanwaljit Singh, Alka Amin and others. The show will stream on Sony LIV starting February 7.
Speaking about this venture, Sooraj shared, “The credit entirely goes to Sony LIV. Every time we thought of entering the space, people told us that the OTT space belongs to crime and thrillers. They said our strength lies in family values, and OTT wasn’t ready for family content. However, the executives at Sony approached us, asking us to bring the Hum Saath-Saath Hain audience to the space. I was so honored and grateful for it. And they gave us all the freedom."
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is gearing up for his upcoming movie Sikandar, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna.
