South Popular Sci-Fi Movies On OTT: The South Indian Film industry has produced some of the cult movies of all time including major hits in the science-fiction genre. One of the latest to be counted is Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD which was released in theatres in June this year and became a blockbuster with an earning of over Rs 1000 crore. The movie recently made its digital debut online and gained accolades there as well. We have brought you the list of some of the most popular South sci-fi movies to watch on OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, Zee5 and Others.
Kalki 2898 AD (Netflix/Prime Video)
Nag Ashwin’s directorial showcased the time post-apocalyptic when a group of people did everything to protect the unborn child of SUM-80, a lab project. It also shows some glimpses of Mahabharata. The movie stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. Released in theatres on 27th June this year, the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD is streaming on Netflix whereas the southern languages are available on Prime Video.
Enthiran/Robot (Sun NXT)
Shanmugam Shankar’s directorial revolves around the story of a scientist who builds a unique robot which is programmed to protect mankind and has human emotions as well. The movie features Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Shriya Sharma and Karunas in key roles. Released in 2010, the movie collected Rs 291 Crore worldwide as per report by Sacnilk. The movie is available in Tamil language on Sun NXT.
Iru Mugan (Hotstar, Prime Video, Zee 5 and MX player)
Anand Shankar’s directorial delves into the investigation of a RAW agent who is on a mission to catch the culprit behind the attack on the Indian Embassy in Malaysia. The movie has a powerful ensemble of actors including Vikram, Nayanthara, Nithya Menon, Nassar and Thambi Ramaiah in prominent roles. The movie is available in Tamil language in several OTT platforms like Hotstar, Prime Video, Zee 5 and MX Player. It is streaming as International Rowdy in Hindi version on Zee 5.

Vikram K Kumar’s directorial revolves around a scientist who invented a time travel watch. His twin brother desperately wants to get that watch. Years later the scientist’s son fights with his uncle to get rid of his evil intentions. The movie stars Suriya Sivakumar, Nithya Menon, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Saranya Ponvannan and Girish Karnad in key roles. The Tamil language movie is streaming in Telugu and Hindi languages on multiple OTT platforms like Zee5, Hotstar and MX Player. It is streaming as Time Story in Hindi on Zee5.
I (Zee5)
Shanmugam Shankar’s directorial revolves around a man who is a model by profession. He falls in love with his colleague and decides to get married. But things take a drastic turn after he starts suffering from physical deformities. It stars Vikram, Amy Jackson, Ojas Rajani, Suresh Gopi and Upen Patel in key roles. The Tamil language was dubbed in several languages including Telugu, Hindi, English and Kannada. The Kannada version is available on Prime Video and Hindi version is on Zee5.
