February 24 marks the seventh death anniversary of legendary actress Sridevi, a name that continues to shine in Indian cinema. On this occasion, her younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, opened up about missing her mother while making her big-screen debut. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Khushi reflected on Sridevi’s immense dedication to acting, which began when she was just four years old. She shared that both she and her sister, Janhvi Kapoor, take immense pride in their mother’s legacy and continue to hold her in their hearts.

Khushi, who stepped into Bollywood with The Archies and later made her big-screen debut with Loveyapa, admitted that seeing herself on the big screen for the first time was an emotional moment. She deeply missed her mother and acknowledged that comparisons with Sridevi are inevitable. However, she humbly stated that she could never match her mother’s brilliance, as Sridevi was truly one of a kind.

Recalling a cherished memory, Khushi mentioned accompanying her mother to New York during the filming of English Vinglish (2012). She vividly remembered Sridevi performing a dance sequence in a chiffon saree despite shivering in the cold, completing the scene flawlessly. "She simply adored her craft," Khushi added.

Sridevi’s incredible journey in cinema includes unforgettable films like Chandni, Mr. India, Lamhe, ChaalBaaz, and Sadma. Her final full-fledged film, Mom (2017), earned her a National Film Award for Best Actress posthumously. She also made a brief appearance in Zero (2018), which was released after her passing. Khushi Kapoor will next be seen in Nadaaniyan alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on March 7, 2025.
