During the Telugu launch event of Naslen starrer 'Premalu,' acclaimed director SS Rajamouli lauded the Malayalam film industry. He expressed his admiration, recalling his pleasantly surprising experience watching the film. Initially anticipating a typical comedy, the RRR director found the film to be remarkably engaging and captivating. At the event, he credited the film's success to exceptional writing, particularly praising the talented writer for seamlessly integrating meme references into the narrative. Rajamouli commended the clever incorporation of memes, noting how they perfectly complemented the characters and emotions, showcasing the writer's ability to deliver a unique cinematic experience.

SS Rajamouli, whose son SS Karthikeya acquired the dubbing rights, participated in an event commemorating the film's success in Hyderabad. He acknowledged feeling 'envious' that the Malayalam film industry produces superior actors. He said, "It’s meant to be watched in theatres because it’s hilarious, when the people next to you laugh, you enjoy it more."

He further stated, "It is with jealousy and pain that I admit the Malayalam film industry produces better actors. In this film too, they did a fantastic job." Drawing comparisons between Mamitha Baiju and Sai Pallavi and Geethanjali, he remarked, "I think she has potential and I see a lot of love for her." Additionally, he commended the remaining members of the cast and crew.

About Premalu

Under the direction of Girish AD, 'Premalu' has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, solidifying its status as an all-time blockbuster. Released on February 9, 2024, the film is an Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy film co-written and directed by Girish AD. It stars Naslen K. Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, supported by an ensemble cast including Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan M, Meenakshi Raveendran, Akhila Bhargavan, Althaf Salim, and Mathew Thomas in an extended cameo appearance.

Vishnu Vijay composed the music, while Ajmal Sabu and Akash Joseph Varghese handled cinematography and editing. Despite being made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, the film achieved blockbuster status at the box office, becoming the fifth Malayalam film to gross over Rs 100 crore worldwide.
