SS Rajamouli has created a buzz with his long-time dream project of adapting Mahabharat and bringing it to the big screen with his own spin to the original epic. He has often expressed excitement about making a 10-part franchise, which will be one of the greatest projects of all time. Levelling up the anticipation, the RRR director shared a big update about Mahabharatam at a recent event. He confirmed that Nani will be a part of the films.

SS Rajamouli recently attended the pre-release event of Hit: The Third Case in Hyderabad. During the event, the anchor asked him about a rumour surrounding his Mahabharatam project and whether there was any truth to the claim that he had finalised Nani for a role in the franchise. To this, Rajamouli said, "Definitely, Nani will be part of my film based on Mahabharatam."

Earlier, during the promotion of his movie RRR, the director shared his plan for his dream project. As quoted by Hindustan Times, he said, “If I get to the point of making Mahabharat, it would take me a year just to read the versions of Mahabharat that are available in the country. At present, I can only assume that it would be a 10-part film."

Rajamouli and Nani have worked together in the film Eega (2012) and are reunited for a new project. The director is currently gearing up for his next directorial tentatively titled SSMB29 starring Mahesh Babu. Priyanka Chopra is reportedly part of the film. The upcoming action entertainer which is being made on a massive budget, is expected to be a two-part saga, with releases slated for 2027 and 2029.

Nani, on the other hand, is busy promoting his upcoming movie HIT 3, which is among one of the highly anticipated Tamil movies of 2025. It is set to hit theatres on May 1. The film also stars Srinidhi Shetty in the lead role.
