Director Ram Gopal Varma, known for directing famous films such as Satya (1998), Sarkar (2005), Rangeela and several others, shared the video on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday. In the clip, ‘Baahubali’ fame director SS Rajamouli and South superstar Mahesh Babu are seen aggressively fighting and hitting each other. However, the video is not real. It was created using AI technology. The visuals appear so realistic that many viewers were initially confused and shocked.

Why Did Ram Gopal Varma React?

As a filmmaker, Ram Gopal Varma appeared disturbed by the ease with which AI can produce such realistic fake visuals. He indirectly condemned the effect of AI on the movie industry by posting, “Cinema is dead.” This indicates that he is worried about the possibility of artificial intelligence replacing actual movie-making efforts.

Divided Opinions On AI In Cinema

Ram Gopal Varma is not the only filmmaker to question AI’s role in movies. Aanand L. Rai, who directed Raanjhanaa, also expressed discomfort about the use of AI. According to reports. However, on the other hand, Shekhar Kapur is in favour of AI and feels that it can help new talent enter the industry.

The viral video of the AI fight has once again brought to the fore an important question: Is technology helping the film industry grow, or slowly replacing creativity? While some people believe that AI is the future, others believe that it may damage the soul of filmmaking.
