America's National Basketball Association and BIGHIT MUSIC, the top music label responsible for the success of BTS, a popular Korean pop boyband, have named its member Suga as an ambassador of NBA.
Suga, who is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and producer, will now connect with NBA fans worldwide throughout its 2022-23 season and beyond. Being a big fan of the NBA himself, SUGA will take part in various league projects that will appear on his personal social media accounts as well as the NBA's channels. His engagements may include attending NBA games and events in the US and Asia, as well as contributing to the league's marketing campaigns.

Furthermore, the NBA will be involved in some of Suga's concerts during his inaugural solo world tour in honour of his first solo album, D-DAY. The rapper has previously incorporated basketball into multiple BTS endeavours, particularly in the music video for the band's widely popular track Dynamite. This song propelled BTS to their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2020.
Expressing his enthusiasm regarding his appointment as an NBA Ambassador, Suga said, "Music and basketball have been shared passions of mine since my youth, and it's a dream to be named an NBA Ambassador. I'm excited to formalise my relationship with the NBA, and I can't wait to share some exciting collaborations I have planned with the league over the coming months."
Speaking about collaborating with Suga, NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum said, "We're thrilled to join forces with SUGA – a superstar musician, fashion icon, and passionate NBA fan. We look forward to working with SUGA to bring the same excitement he engenders from his global fanbase in support of our continued efforts to grow our brand."
In September 2022, SUGA was present at The NBA Japan Games 2022 Presented by Rakuten & Nissan, which included two preseason games with the Golden State Warriors, the reigning NBA champion, and the Washington Wizards.
