Priya Sachdev, the wife of late Sunjay Kapur, former chairman of Sona Comstar, has updated her Instagram profile to reflect her new role as non-executive director at the auto parts firm. She recently joined the company's board, with her appointment being approved by shareholders with a majority vote of 99.44%.

As non-executive director, Priya will oversee the company's functioning and provide strategic input without being involved in daily operations. Her Instagram handle has also been updated to Priya Sunjay Kapur, signifying her new position and commitment to her late husband's legacy.

The move comes after Sunjay Kapur's unexpected death in an accident during a polo match. The industrialist tragically passed away on June 12, 2025 in England. He reportedly suffered a fatal cardiac arrest after accidentally swallowing a bee, which got stuck in his throat and triggered a severe allergic reaction. Despite immediate medical attention, Kapur couldn't be saved. Karisma and her kids Samaira and Kiaan, whom she shared with Kapur, were present at the funeral. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan attended the funeral as well.

Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother, escalated the family dispute by writing a letter to the company's board, alleging she was pressured into signing documents without being fully informed. In the letter, she also accused certain individuals of attempting to speak on behalf of the family, strongly implying that her remarks were directed at Priya, Sunjay's wife, given the timing and context of the letter.

Priya Sachdev married Sunjay Kapur in 2017. Priya has two children: a son, Azarius, with Sunjay and a daughter, Safira, from her previous marriage to Vikram Chatwal. Priya's first marriage with American hotelier and businessman Vikram Chatwal ended with a divorce and a long custody battle for her daughter, which she won in 2011. Notably, Safira has recently removed her surname from her social media profiles, now going by her first name alone, possibly reflecting a personal choice or family dynamics shift.
