Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's 'Gadar 2' appears to be breaking a box office dry spell and drawing audiences back to theaters post-pandemic. Serving as a sequel to the 2001 cross-border romantic drama 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,' the film achieved a remarkable box office opening on Friday, August 11, 2023. It faced a head-to-head clash with Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2.' Remarkably, despite the clash, 'Gadar 2' emerged as the second-highest opener of 2023, trailing only behind Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan.' Kangana Ranaut has now expressed admiration for Sunny Deol's movie.
On Saturday, Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram account and shared a clip of the crowds outside a theatre showing Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's Gadar 2. Along with it, she wrote a note praising the film and called Deol a 'manly hero'. "No mafia politics, no bought reviews, no fake propaganda, no buying of tickets through bulk corporate bookings, no cartoon looking actors, proper manly hero and proper massy content."
She further wrote about Sunny Deol, who reprised his role as Tara Singh in the film. "Forget holiday, even if it was a solo release, first day could easily be ₹65-70 crore... but is is not just the economic drought that's getting over in the film industry but look at people. Happy to see cinema bringing excitement and nationalism back in people's lives... Long live Tara Singh, Sunny Deol."
