Maharaja (Netflix)
Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan and co-written with Raam Murali. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, with a supporting cast including Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami Gopikumar, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Sachana Namidass, Manikandan, and Bharathiraja. 8 Thottakkal (Hotstar)
Written and directed by Sri Ganesh in his directorial debut. 8 Thottakkal features Vetri in the lead role, supported by Aparna Balamurali, Nassar, M. S. Bhaskar, and Meera Mithun. Loosely inspired by the 1949 Japanese film Stray Dog, 8 Thottakkal follows Sathya, an orphan framed for murder who is sent to a juvenile facility. After befriending the warden, he becomes a sub-inspector, committed to honesty amidst widespread corruption. Sathya’s life takes a turn when he helps a writer being attacked by a corrupt inspector, Gunasekaran.
Captain Miller (Amazon Prime Video)
Helmed by Arun Matheswaran, the film, the first in a planned trilogy, stars Dhanush in the lead role, with notable performances from Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, Aditi Balan, Edward Sonnenblick, and John Kokken. Set in the 1930s during British colonial rule, the story follows a former British soldier fighting to protect his village from British forces. The film features a musical score by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with Siddhartha Nuni handling cinematography and Nagooran Ramachandran in charge of editing. The movie features Sundar alongside Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, Santhosh Prathap, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, and Delhi Ganesh. The neo-noir action thriller directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, with a story by Vetrimaaran, features Soori, M. The action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Vijay in the lead role as an anti-hero, with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, and Mathew Thomas in supporting roles. Partially inspired by A History of Violence, it is the third film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.
